Deputy Inspector-General of Police (DIG), Force Criminal of Investigation Department [FCID], Abuja, Margaret Ochalla, has charged officers to apply professionalism in carrying out investigations: “My mission and vision will be to sanitise the department, train and re-train officers on how to conduct investigations properly.
“I have reminded officers and men of their commitment to professionalism, zero tolerance for corruption and abuse of human rights. Officers should always operate within the ambit of relevance.
“Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Olatunji Disu, dedicated this year’s, National Police Day, with the theme ‘Community Partnership, Building Trust, to fallen heroes who gave their best to serve their fatherland, serving and retired police officers, stakeholders and the people for their valuable support.
“During the event, FCID did sanitation and clearing with members of the public in Abuja. We also had medical outreach and a walk-out. We appreciate the public for turning out. This is part of community policing and having good relationship with the public.
“This is strengthened by leadership of the IGP. He has repeatedly expressed his unequivocal stance on professionalism, discipline, respect for the rights and dignity of citizens, public trust and enthroning a people-centred policing system since assuming office.
“In the early 80s, until till date, FCID Abuja, has seen the best in term of investigations. The police commands always transfer their cases to FCID. We conduct investigations excellently in FCID. We handle a lot of profile cases. We always have good results at the end of the day.
“I have told officers to look descent in their dressing and be hardworking. We are here to serve the public. My door is open wide to receive complaints and vital information to assist the police.
