Federal Capital Territory Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike, has announced plans to install streetlights on the newly completed OSEX II road from Apo to Wassa in Abuja.

The project, abandoned for nearly a decade by past administrations, is set to be completed with the addition of streetlights, addressing a critical oversight in the original contract awarded over 10 years ago.

Wike directed the installation of streetlights, citing President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s insistence on completing abandoned projects. CGC has submitted a quotation for the project.

Kubwa Interchange and Daki Biyu Road are both nearing completion and slated for inauguration in June, showcasing impressive work quality that meets the standards of Abuja residents.

According to Wike.”It was not awarded by this administration, but President Tinubu insisted that we must complete abandoned projects. I have directed that streetlights be installed. CGC has already submitted their quotation,” Wike said, assuring residents of improved safety once the lights are in place.

Wike praised President Tinubu’s commitment to the Renewed Hope Agenda, highlighting the administration’s achievements in the FCT, which have garnered recognition even from critics.

Addressing the Primary School Teachers’ Strike, Wike expressed concern over the ongoing strike by primary school teachers under FCT area councils, urging elected council chairmen and National Assembly committees to intervene.

He emphasized the importance of education, stating, “Denying children education is like staging a coup against society.” The minister assured that every effort is being made to resolve the strike quickly.

As President Tinubu marks his second year in office, Wike’s comments reflect the administration’s focus on infrastructure development and service delivery.

According to President Tinubu’s speech on May 29, 2025, the administration has made significant progress in stabilizing the economy, improving security, and investing in human capital development.
