President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Christopher Kolade, describing the late 92-year-old broadcaster and corporate leader as a “representation of the true Nigerian, selfless and resilient,” whose enduring legacy will continue to inspire future generations.

In a statement issued by Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, President Tinubu paid tribute to Kolade as one of Nigeria’s intellectual treasures and a custodian of the nation’s corporate governance history. He highlighted Kolade’s exceptional brilliance, integrity, and dedication to public service and human advancement.

President Tinubu celebrated Kolade not only for his pivotal roles in the business sector—as former chief executive and chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc and a key figure at Lagos Business School—but also for his unwavering patriotism.

He served the nation in various capacities, including as Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom and Director-General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation.

The president recalled Kolade’s humanitarian work, especially his foundation’s support for sickle cell patients, reflecting a lifetime commitment to social causes.

“His passing is agonising, yet we must celebrate his life and legacy,” President Tinubu said. “He lived an exemplary life and immortalised himself in his uncommon service to our nation and humanity.”

He prayed for divine rest for the departed leader who had served God and country faithfully.
