Former Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Dr. Christopher Kolade has died aged 92.

Kolade, a respected elder statesman and boardroom guru, died on Wednesday, October 8, his family announced in a statement.

The late nonagenarian was born December 28, 1932, in Erin-Oke, Osun State.

The son of an Anglican missionary, he completed his secondary-school education at Government College, Ibadan, in present-day Oyo State, after which he studied at the prestigious Fourah Bay College, Freetown, Sierra Leone.

He was a recipient of honorary doctorate degrees from institutions such as the University of Sierra Leone (1976) and McPherson University (2016).

A man of many parts, he was a distinguished educator, broadcaster, business executive and diplomat, whose life was marked by peerless integrity.

Kolade worked as a colonial education officer before becoming a broadcaster, rising to become Director General of the Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation (NBC).

He was also Chief Executive and Chairman of Cadbury Nigeria Plc, before being named Nigerian High Commissioner to the United Kingdom by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

After his excellent service for Nigeria in the UK, he returned to Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, teaching Corporate Governance and Human Resource Management at the Lagos Business School (LBS) and Leadership and Conflict Management at the School of Media and Communication (SMC).
