The race to honour Nigeria’s most outstanding healthcare contributors has intensified as public voting for the Dove Healthcare Awards 2025 enters its final two weeks, with the deadline set for October 17.

The third edition of the prestigious awards, themed “Celebrating Excellence and Innovation in Healthcare,” will culminate in a grand ceremony on Friday, December 5, at the Lagos Oriental Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Organisers disclosed in a statement that the awards, established in 2017 by the Dove Healthcare Foundation, have grown into the premier platform for recognising exceptional contributions by healthcare professionals, institutions, benefactors, and policymakers who have advanced healthcare delivery in Nigeria and beyond.

With nominations now closed, the public and stakeholders are actively participating in the voting phase, which determines the most deserving honourees across multiple categories. The process, according to the foundation, underscores its commitment to transparency and community involvement in recognising healthcare excellence.

“The awards have consistently attracted high-profile winners including individuals, institutions, and government agencies demonstrating excellence and innovation in healthcare. It seeks to establish credibility within Nigeria’s healthcare ecosystem,” the statement noted.

Recent honourees include eminent figures such as Emeritus Prof. Ayodele Falase, former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan and Professor of Cardiology, and Prof. Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo, Chief Medical Director of University College Hospital (UCH) Ibadan, who both received the Healthcare Award of Excellence.

The 2023 and 2024 editions recognised diverse contributions across the healthcare spectrum, media organisations and pharmaceutical companies have also been spotlighted as well as institutions excelling in specialised care have not been left out. Government health initiatives have equally been applauded for excellence in health insurance schemes, reflecting the growing importance of universal health coverage in Nigeria.

The awards have also extended recognition internationally. Healthcare stakeholders and the public are encouraged to participate in the ongoing voting process before the October 17 deadline. The 2025 awards promise not only to celebrate current achievements but also to inspire renewed commitment toward advancing healthcare across Nigeria and Africa.
