….As PDP holds North Central Congress in Plateau, elect new executives

The Nigeria’s 10th Senate minority leader, Senator Abba Marwo has stated that Nigeria would never be a one party system before and after 2027 general elections.
Senator Marwa, a chieftain of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said despite the internal squabble in the party’s leadership, PDP will continue waxing stronger.
Recalled PDP in recent times witnessed Exodus of party loyalists to the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) especially in Delta State and also at the National Assembly. The situation which some pundits believed Nigeria is on the track of becoming a one party state.
Not quite long ago the former governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Susan during an interview in Channels Television predicted that in six months to come there will no PDP in Nigeria.
But Senator Abba Marwo, while speaking to newsmen in Jos the Plateau State Capital over the weekend Saturday during the PDP North Central Congress, held at the Langfield
Leisure Park, Rayfield, revealed he is not entertaining any fear that PDP will collapse in near future despite defections in the party.
“I don’t believe that’s a likely outcome. Yes, defections have a ripple effect, and the initial shock can be significant. But after that, PDP members will regroup, recommit, and rededicate themselves to the cause. I am confident that the PDP is coming back stronger.”
Senator Marwo further expressed optimism that the Congress is one of the series of activities the PDP lines up in response to the seeming crisis within the party.
“These activities are all leading up to the national convention for the election of a brand new party leadership.With new leaders being elected—from the ward to the local government, then to the state and now the zonal levels—and eventually at the national convention, this process will breathe new life into the PDP. The party will continue to grow stronger and stronger”, the Senate minority leader added.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang confirmed they had a very peaceful Congress, saying one thing is clear: the PDP in the North Central is alive and thriving. “Today, we have demonstrated that we are a people of peace, unity, and love—deeply committed to the ideals of the party.
“We have concluded this Congress peacefully and honorably. To those who were asked to step down and graciously accepted—your sacrifice will not be forgotten. The party appreciates your selflessness, and we recognize it as a sign of true loyalty and maturity.
“I now charge the newly elected Executive Committee: your work begins immediately. Your primary responsibility is to unite the party across the zone and within each state. All differences must be addressed and resolved, so that we can move as one strong, cohesive family—by the grace of God.”
Daily Champion reports that PDP North Central delegates cutting across Plateau, Benue, Niger, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kogi and Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Abuja respectively, elected new executives that will pilot the affairs of the party in the zone for the period of four years.
It was also learned that there were contest in the positions of zonal chairman and youth leader while other ten offices as well as ex-officio positions were return unopposed.
Declaring the outcome of the exercise after sorting and counting of the votes cast, chairman of Congress electoral committee, Dr. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki SAN, announced Abdulraman Muhammed as the new ,PDP zonal chairman, North Central having got 526 votes cast against his rival Abraham Ajiya who scored 18 votes as Alhassan Nda Gana emerged youth leader with 539 votes scored.
The incoming PDP North Central Zonal chairman, Abdulraman Muhammed, promised not to betray the mandate entrusted on them as they work assiduously towards making sure PDP wins all states in the zone including the presidency come 2027 elections.
