Former Flying Eagles striker Akor Adams has signed a five-year contract with Sevilla and said he is ready to get his goalscoring act back in Spain’s La Liga, reports PUNCH Sports Extra.

The 25-year-old was welcomed into the Spanish giants’ training on Thursday and could make his La Liga debut on Saturday against Gefate. He joins Sevilla from French Ligue 1 side Montpellier for a reported transfer fee of 5.5 million euros.

“The most important thing is that I am healthy and mentally ready. I have had a very warm welcome since I arrived. I will join the group, adapt as quickly as possible, and try to get better with each game. “I’m ready,” he told the club’s website.

Adams’ signing is a surprise given his poor form for Montpellier this season but he will be hoping to regain his goal-scoring form in Spain.

“I would like to repeat that here and it would be great to see me enter a new environment and a new system and continue doing what I’ve been doing. I had a very good career in Norway and was in a good team so it was a collective achievement.” We managed to achieve the same in our first season in France, so hopefully, we can repeat it here and give our best.

Sevilla sporting director Victor Horta also spoke about the Nigerian’s qualities, who joined compatriots Chidera Ejuke and Kelechi Iheanacho, on Club Connect.

“He’s a player we’ve had our eye on for a while. He performed brilliantly during his time in Norway and initially at Montpellier. Then, due to team circumstances, he wasn’t able to sustain that performance, but when we saw he was on the market we had no hesitation in signing him because he gives us the physicality, the speed, and the energy to play with his back to goal and the energy we bring.

“He’s a very complete striker, he’s already played in a competitive league like France, with a lot of man-marking and intensity. Here he can bring all these qualities and contribute.”

Sevilla are currently 12th in the Spanish top flight with 27 points, three points off the Europa Conference League places.
