Controversial Nigerian singer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has declared that he is a “madman” undergoing treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.

Portable made this statement on Tuesday while appealing to Nigerians and the Ogun State Government after the state police command declared him wanted.

The singer was reportedly involved in a violent altercation with three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office. The officials—identified as TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—were conducting an enforcement exercise at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota, Ogun State, when the incident occurred.

According to reports, the officials initially met Portable’s father at Odogwu Bar, where they requested an approved building plan. The elderly man informed them that his son was unavailable. However, moments later, Portable allegedly arrived with a firearm and led nine thugs in a violent attack on the unarmed officials.

The police stated, “The enforcement officers sustained various bodily injuries but managed to escape and reported the incident to the Ota Area Command. The case was subsequently escalated to the State Criminal Investigation Department for further action. Nine accomplices were arrested, but Portable fled the scene and has since gone into hiding.”

In response to the allegations, Portable took to Instagram in multiple rants, claiming he was being set up due to his affiliation with Senator Adeola Solomon, popularly known as Yayi. He insisted that he was mentally unstable and a registered patient at Aro Hospital.

“I fear government. I am a federal government liability. I am a madman; I have medications that I usually take. You can confirm from Aro Hospital. I have a card that certifies me as one of their patients,” he said.

The Ogun State Police Command, however, dismissed his claims, insisting that he remains wanted and must turn himself in for investigation.
