Nigerian striker Akor Adams has finalized a €5.5 million transfer from French team Montpellier to Spanish La Liga team Sevilla. Fabrizio Romano, a transfer expert, verified the development on X on Saturday.

“Akor Adams signs a €5.5 million contract to join Sevilla from Montpellier, according to an exclusive report.” He and his agent have just arrived in Spain,” Romano wrote.

The 24-year-old had a challenging season at Montpellier, scoring only three goals and dishing out one assist in more than a dozen games. This was a stark contrast to his stellar debut season, in which he scored seven goals in the French league after joining from Lillestrøm of Norway.

Since the former Leicester City striker hasn’t played for Los Nervionenses in more than a month, the former Flying Eagles forward’s arrival at the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium may further restrict fellow Nigerian Kelechi Iheanacho’s playing time.

Sevilla is now in 11th place in La Liga with 26 points from 20 games, barely seven points above the relegation zone. They recently suffered a shocking 4-1 Copa del Rey loss to second-tier team Almeria.

In order to turn things around in the second half of the season, the Spanish team will be hoping that Adams can find his scoring touch again.
