The Turkish Football Association has yet to confirm whether Besiktas defender, Emirhan Topçu made an alleged racist comment towards Super Eagles striker, Victor Osimhen during last weekend’s Istanbul derby.
Videos and photos shared on social media show Wilfred Ndidi of Besiktas intervening during a heated exchange between Osimhen and his teammate.
Unverified reports suggest that the Besiktas defender called Osimhen “a black monkey,” which reportedly provoked an intense confrontation during the match.
As of 48 hours after the derby, with Monday being a working day, there has been no official confirmation from the Turkish FA, UEFA, or FIFA. If the allegations are true, they warrant a thorough investigation.
