The founder of Love World, popularly known as Christ Embassy, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, has disclosed that several gospel singers left his church due to their focus on personal fame and financial gain rather than true worship and service to God.

Speaking during a recent church program, Oyakhilome expressed concern that worship in the church had lost its spiritual essence, as many gospel artists were prioritizing material success over devotion.

Gospel Artistes Prioritizing Fame Over Faith

The cleric lamented that while many of these singers actively led praise and worship sessions, they often neglected prayer meetings, which he saw as a sign of their lack of true commitment to God’s work.

“The church was turned into a party place, not a prayer place where God’s word was truly celebrated,” Oyakhilome stated.

“They were not soul winners; they led praise in church, and when it was time for prayers, they were gone. The church lost its way of worship, and everything changed. The music became worldly, and they celebrated themselves instead of God.”

Concerns Over Commercialization of Gospel Music

Oyakhilome further revealed that many gospel artists began charging fees for their performances, transforming their ministry into a profession centered around making money rather than genuine worship.

“They charged for their singing, they became professionals making money from the church, and many pastors didn’t realize that this was the world coming into the church,” he said.

Why the Singers Left Christ Embassy

The pastor noted that when he attempted to address the issue and redirect them towards a more spiritual path, many of the singers refused to change and chose to leave instead.

“I initially celebrated them, but when I changed, they refused to change with me, so I had to let them go. God was getting my attention, saying this is not the way,” Oyakhilome explained.

He emphasized that their pursuit of financial gain blinded them from the deeper spiritual purpose of their calling.

“The little money they were making was too attractive to them, so they didn’t want to follow me. I hope they all repent because they are not worship leaders,” he concluded.
