Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has pledged his administration’s readiness to intensify efforts and make the sacrifices that may be necessary to accelerate the State’s social, economic and technological development and for the ‘Home of Solid Minerals’ to be more attractive to both local and foreign investors.

Engr. Sule spoke recently when he received the Chairman, Editorial Board and General Manager, Publications of Champion Newspapers Limited, Mr.Thomas Imonikhe and some members of staff at the Governor’s Lodge in Abuja where the governor was presented the instruments of his recognition by the organization.

Recall that the governor had bagged an Award of Excellence in Leadership and Laying Solid Foundation for Economic Transformation of Nasarawa State on Saturday, June 7, 2025 during the Champion Newspapers’ 2024 Annual Honours Series, when eminent Nigerians, corporate organizations and notable institutions were recognized for their immense contributions to Nigeria’s development. He could not attend the ceremony due to pressing state matters.

However, Engr Sule who was also honoured the same day by three other agencies, including the Musa Yar’adua Memorial Institute, after receiving the awards in Abuja, expressed gratitude for being found worthy of the honours bestowed on him.

The governor commended the leadership and management of the organizations especially Champion Newspapers Limited for the honour while also explaining his inability to attend any of the award events because of his trips outside the country.

“I have not performed Hajj for over 20 years and unfortunately, most of the awards were given during my trip for Hajj. Now that you have come, I will personally receive the awards from you. The Leadership Transformation Award from the Champion delegation has been our guiding principle. The award means so much to me. Each one of the awards bestowed on me speaks a lot,” he said.

Continuing, the governor said, “we are doing all that we are doing in Nasarawa State because God has given us the grace to do them. We have received so much encouragement from our people to do all that we are doing for the state. It is one thing to have a dream, and another thing is to be able to drive that dream. Driving a dream requires more than just your effort. I am very lucky in Nasarawa State that I have a team that truly believes and also cooperates and puts in all their efforts for us to be able to achieve all that we plan to achieve”.

While promising to work together with the Champion Newspapers, the governor commended the board, management and staff of the company for finding him worthy of the award.

Earlier, the General Manager, Publications of Champion Newspapers Limited, Mr.Thomas Imonikhe, before making the presentation, commended the development strides of the governor in every sector, especially in agriculture,  industrialization and solid minerals development.

He urged the governor not to relent in the efforts to develop the state and make it the preferred investment destination in the North Central zone, stressing that the state ranks among the best in the country due to the execution of people-oriented policies and programmes most of which are already yielding enormous benefits.

Imonikhe observed that the governor’s leadership capacity, decades-long experience in the private sector, transparency in the management of public funds, focused cabinet and committed public service have all contributed immensely to the successful implementation of the state’s transformative agenda characterized by massive provision of infrastructures, democracy dividends for the people as well as security of lives and property.
