A fire broke out at the residence of Real Madrid forward Vinícius Júnior on Thursday morning, gutting the basement sauna and causing significant damage to the property, according to reports from Spanish outlet Marca.

The blaze, which started in the basement sauna of the Brazilian international’s home in the Spanish capital, was quickly contained by local firefighters, preventing it from spreading to upper levels.

Emergency services responded promptly after the alarm was raised around 10 am local time, and the fire was extinguished within an hour.

No injuries were reported, and Vinícius, 25, was not at the property at the time of the incident.

Marca reported that his family members present in the home were safely evacuated.

Early reports indicate the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in the sauna, although authorities are working to unravel what triggered the malfunction.
