Two suspects wanted over the alleged killing of one Alex Adanike in Ughelli, Delta State, have been arrested by operatives of the Delta State Police Command led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
The arrest, according to the State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, underscored the importance of raids on identified criminal hideouts within the state.
Edafe, in a statement on Tuesday, recalled that on 20 January 2026, members of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as Aro Bagger, had gruesomely shot and stabbed to death one Alex Adanike, aged 31, of Agbhara-Otor Community.
The deceased was mistaken for his twin brother, Okpako Adanike.
The statement said an extensive investigation into the matter had earlier led to the arrest of two suspects, Warri Ochuko and Lucky Okohwoake, who both confessed to the commission of the crime.
Edafe said two additional suspects, namely Tega Michael, aged 26, and Tena Sagbene, 32, were arrested following a recent raid on criminal hideouts in the Ughelli and Warri areas of the state, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
During the investigation, the arrested suspects were identified by those already in custody as part of the gang that murdered the deceased on the said date.
“All suspects confessed to the commission of the crime and were today, 31st March 2026, arraigned before the Ughelli High Court and remanded in prison custody.
“The command emphasises the importance of proactive policing, which includes intelligence gathering, raids and stop-and-search duty. It serves not only as a mechanism for easy apprehension of criminals but also to forestall criminal activities, thereby restoring peace and sanity in the State.
“The Commissioner of Police has lauded the commitment of officers for sustaining the fight against crime and criminality and taking the war to their doorstep, thereby making the state uninhabitable for them. He also urged Deltans, residents and non-residents to be law-abiding and respect the rule of law.”
