Ebonyi State Governor, Francis Nwifuru has suspended 25 Commissioners, 14 Senior Special Assistants and 24 Special Assistants in his cabinet for one month without salaries for failing to attend important function.

The Governor also suspended 22 Permanent Secretaries for  same period and offence.

This was contained in a statement signed by this Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor on Monday night.

The suspended Commissioners included:  Stanley Lebechi Mbam(Works), Prof. Leonard Uguru(Finance), Mathew Nwobashi(Lands end Survey). Prof. Nwogo Obasi(Markets and Parks Development),  Victor Chukwu(Environment), Jude Okpor (Rural Development), Ikeuwa Omebe( Information & State Orientation),  Chidi Onyia(Solid Mineral Development), Chief Oguzo – Offia Nwali(Commerce, Industry and Business Development),  Dr  Ben Odo(Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice)  Dr. Donatus Ilang(Primary & Secondary Education), Mrs Ngozi Obichukwu(Aviation and Transport Technology),  Dr. Moses Ekuma Ikenna(Health).

Others are Chief Richard Idike(Youth and Sports),  Mrs. Felicia Nwankpuma(Women Affairs and Social Development), Chinedu Nkah(Water Resources) Ogbonnaya Obasi Abara  (Infrastructure for Concession) Resources), Mrs Nkechinyere Iyioku(Agriculture), Francis Ori(Housing), Tochukwu Okorie) Information and Communication Technology), Valentine Okike Uzo(Special Duties), Sunday Inyima(Capital City Development), Ogbonnaya Okorie(Inter-Party Affairs),, Chief Elechi Elechi(Trade and Investment) and  Stanley Ogbuewu(Culture and Tourism).

“The Governor also directed that the affected officers should not sign any official document within the period  of their suspension while  Commissioners should hand over to their respective permanent Secretaries”, the statement said.

Some of the commissioners had served one form of suspension or the other before being slammed the present suspension by the Governor.

Among those who were suspended previously is Victor Chukwu who was suspended for misconduct. He was given six months sit-up grace by the Governor in a minor cabinet reshuffle he did this month.

Others who were also suspended previously included; Francis Ori, Magnus Noah and Moses Ekuma. They were suspended for alleged gross misconduct.
