The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has dismissed allegations made against him by the Osun State Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), stating that he is too busy for careless talks.

PDP’s Accusations and IG’s Response

The Osun PDP had accused Egbetokun of collaborating with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to enforce a “non-existent” court order aimed at reinstating former local government chairmen. The party’s chairman, Sunday Bisi, also alleged that the IG was plotting to destabilize the state and even assassinate Governor Ademola Adeleke.

Responding to these claims on Thursday during a police decoration ceremony in Abuja, Egbetokun said:

“I read about the allegations, but I refuse to dignify such absurdity with a response. I believe in challenging the distortion of facts, but statements that are contrary to reasoning don’t deserve our response. I am too busy for careless talks.”

Clarification on Police Deployment to Osun

Egbetokun explained that the deployment of additional police officers to Osun was based on the state commissioner’s request for reinforcement.

“Mine is to respond to the call of the Commissioner of Police in the state for reinforcement. We have enough men on the ground to ensure there is law and order in the state.”

He assured the people of Osun that peace has been restored, urging them to remain calm and continue with their daily activities.

“The state is calm now. Did you hear of any violence again? It’s calm now.”
