The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has suspended admissions to law courses in eight universities for the 2025/2026 academic year. This follows the suspension of the Bachelor of Laws (LL.B) programs at the institutions concerned by the Council for Legal Education (CLE) for breaching official rules.

JAMB spokesman, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, said the affected institutions were Kwara State University, Malete, Ilorin; Bingham University, Karu, Nasarawa State; Redeemer’s University, Ede, Osun State; and Western Delta University, Ogara, Delta State. Others include Taraba State University, Haringo. Arthur Jarvis University, Akpabuyo, Cross River State; Alex Ekwueme Federal University, Ndufu Arike, Ebonyi State; Nigerian Police Academy, Udile, Kano State

The suspension of the law programme at the Nigerian Police Academy will apply to the 2025/2026 and 2026/2027 academic years. “As a result, JAMB will not approve the admission of candidates seeking admission to study law in the above universities for the 2025/2026 academic year,” Benjamin said in a statement. A source at one of the affected universities said: “We breached our admission quota about five years ago.

“We will be penalized along with the listed universities to deter future breaches.”
